As an Eau Claire wedding photographer, I’ve documented weddings at many country venues. But when Kristin and Kevin told me they were planning to say “I do” at Dixon’s Apple Orchard Wedding and Event Center I knew this was going to be a celebration to remember! I frequently shoot weddings at Dixon’s and it’s always incredible! From the moment we arrived until the newlyweds raced off into their happily ever after, Dixon’s was the perfect fit: gorgeous getting ready areas, amazing locations for couples portraits, and a laid back, comfortable reception space.
Getting Ready
As Kristin had her hair and makeup done surrounded by her bridesmaids and family, I couldn’t help but marvel at how beautiful and functional the getting ready space is. With its separate dedicated salon area, kitchen and dressing room with a ton of mirrors, it was perfect for all of the ladies’ getting ready needs. And the groom’s getting ready area is awesome – a dedicated small cabin and a grain bin turned into a bar so the guys can loosen up a bit if needed. I always advise couples to find a space that’s big enough for the number of people they want to have with them as they get ready for the day. And Dixon’s absolutely delivers!
Ceremony Locations at Dixon’s Apple Orchard
Dixon’s has three completely different ceremony location options: a magical woodland location, a pond waterfront location and a spot in the heart of the apple orchard. I was so stoked when I heard that Kevin and Kristin were getting married out in the orchard ceremony location as it was my first wedding out there. Not only did it perfectly suit the dream wedding day Kevin and Kristin had described to me from day one, but it also surprised me because it is tucked in directly in the orchard and feels so private.
Portrait Locations
There was definitely no shortage of incredible spots for portraits, that’s for sure! Because Dixon’s has multiple ceremony spots and such a variety of landscape on the property, it’s always an adventure capturing photos in various locations. From the photos we took in out in the wooded area to the ones literally on the road at sunset, Kevin and Kristin are going to have a crazy hard time choosing which ones to print and hang in their home!
Reception Spaces
Then, off to the reception we headed! Dixon’s has an incredibly versatile space with an indoor/outdoor bar area featuring many yard games, a fire pit and plenty of areas to relax and enjoy the company of others before dinner is served. The reception space felt intimate and cozy but not crowded! After dinner, the party kicked into high gear. The reception space was a perfect vibe featuring twinkle lights and a dance floor right near the bar!
